Snowy December Morning

It's been snowing here all morning and everything looks so pretty covered in a light dusting of white. The print above is a painting by Charley Harper entitled Scary Scenario, and happens to be the December picture in my calendar (just remembered to switch it this morning...!).

GOOD Holiday Gift Guide

I love these gift ideas from GOOD magazine's first holiday gift guide. I think I may have to gift a subscription to a friend this year! (Last year I received a subscription to Scientific American Mind and it was so nice to receive something in the mail every 2 months! A gift that keeps on giving in the most practical sense ;))

Just Some Pretty Blue Lights

A belated Happy December!

Music & Musings: Working Late edition

Listening to Neil Halstead's Oh! Mighty Engine and working on some tedious reading/coding in preparation for a research meeting tomorrow morning. Today was full day of inspiring talks & discussion and I have a lot of ideas simmering in my head regarding my own research interests and goals (must work on those grad apps!). It's been quite a while since I've listened to this record but Neil's voice always helps me calm down and relax, so I can put thoughts & ideas down on paper before they disappear into the deep recesses of my mind (don't you hate it when that happens?).

Happy Wednesday

3 happy things:

1. Maryland Zoo penguin cam! (via Josh)

2. Anonymous gift exchange in Fukuoka, Japan (via Ely; I would leave a box of tea!)

3. Seeing all the Movember 'staches on the street & subway yesterday.
